Shadow first appeared on 2017’s’ Vain + Alone and was a few years in the making. Its role and the Nights of Grief & Mystery has changed over the years, and on this Night in L.A. it appeared after the story of the Dying Nurse. It segues into Beauty Bereft, a piece Stephen first brought to us in 2018. It contains a wondrous excavation of the word "anaesthetic" and its connection to the plague of the opioid crisis ravaging the planet. There was not a town or city that we went to where this piece wasn't dead-on relevant.
